Reinhardt’s most popular compositions have become standard within gypsy jazz including “Minor Swing,” “Daphne,” “Belleville,” “Djangology,” “Swing 42,” and “Nuages.” Who better to play the part of Django than the man The New York Times calls “the most creative improviser in Gypsy jazz today,” Stephane Wrembel. Wrem bel is a French born jazz guitarist who is best known for “Bistro Fada,” the theme song from the 2011 Woody Allen Oscar winning film, Midnight in Paris and “Big Brother,” the theme song from Woody Allen’s film, Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Wrembel will be joined by a full band who will bring Django’s music to life taking us all back to the dance clubs of 1930’s Paris. A Belgian-born Romani French jazz guitarist, musician and composer, Django Reinhardt is regarded as one of the greatest musicians of the 20th century. The Charleston Music Hall is jazzed to present Django A Gogo: The Music of Django Reinhardt featuring The Stephane Wrembel Band on Sunday, May 27th at 8pm.
